Special Olympics Athens 2011

Ten Bulgarian riding clubs have provided 50 horses for the World Summer Games Special Olympics Athens 2011. The horses had to be of good character, showing good manners at competitions as well as suitable for riders without much experience.
Two athletes from Bulgaria took part in the horse tournament. Asparuh Vasilev from Concur Riding Club trained by Stoitza Argilashki and Mihaela Ivanova, trained by Nina Yankova, stunt woman from the proto-bulgarian survival group Baga-Tur. Mihaela won two golden medals, and Asparuh took a bronze one, following only half an year of training. Upon receiving his medal he kissed and thanked his horse.
